How
many times have you heard people
say, "I wish I had more
time!" or "If I could
just clone myself it would be
great!" or "I'm on
deadline and
I'm not ready!" Well, new Arrowbear Lake resident Pat Matson has the solution
to the problem. What you need is herSą or at least her skills! "I'm the
other 'you' you've been looking for," she says.
Matson
is as friendly and welcoming
as she is inventive and creative
and she's managed to carve
out a niche for herself as
a "home office entrepreneur."
From the looks of it, she's
really onto something, offering
clients her
considerable writing and computer
skills which frees them up

to
do what they do best, working on
the
growth of their business.
Matson has many professional clients who rely on her to compose "welcome
packets," write newsletters, do technical writing, plan business plans and
documents, make their travel and meeting arrangements, do their research and
offer ideas and support. She's even been the "ghost writer" for a book
that was published just last month.
Does this talented lady race to the office everyday putting thousands of miles
on her car each month? Nope, she does all her work by e-mail, phone or fax. In
other words she truly works in "Virtual Reality."
Matson named her company Paperwork Partners because she feels she truly is a
partner in her client's business without taking up space in their office. Because
she spent over 40 years honing her skills in corporate America, she knows her
strengths and weaknesses and she plays to the strengths, offering clients herself
as a "partner" as well as a "staffing solution."
Give the lady a problem and she's quick to begin figuring it out. In fact, Matson
says, problem solving is one of her strengths.
Lest it sound like Matson has lots of time on her hands, nothing could be further
from the truth. Her client list is so filled she works a 40-hour (plus) week,
providing a wide variety of services. Because she has her own small business
and has years of business experiences to draw upon, she says, "I crawl into
the dreams of sole proprietors and then help to make their dreams come true."
Matson grew up in Pennsylvania and her family moved to Southern California in
1959. She laughs when she recalls while attending high school in Whittier being "forced" to
take typing, a subject she felt was totally useless because she'd never use it.
Of course, as an adult she has thanked her typing teacher over and over again
for all the repetitive work she was "forced" to do because she is a
quick and accurate typist and uses that skill every single day.
In order to be proficient in her new venture, Matson took classes through AssistU.com
and she calls the difficult program, "the Cadillac of organizations for
virtual assistants."
She also says that becoming a graduate of the Assist U Virtual Training Program
was very difficult and she compared it to earning a master's degree. However,
her perseverance paid off and she says she simply loves her life.
Before she moved to Arrowbear a few months ago Matson lived in the Harbor City/Long
Beach area where she opened her business, "Paperwork Partners." She's
been very busy making changes to her new home and her office is a small sun-filled
room with large windows where she can look out at the trees and world outside.
Although she's only been a mountain resident for a few months, she is completely
at home and grateful she made the decision to relocate from the busy city to
a quieter lifestyle in the mountains.
One of the first things she did when she moved to the mountains was to join the
Running Springs Area Chamber of Commerce and a ribbon-cutting celebration was
held at her home/business in September. Several chamber board members attended
the event and after photos were taken they each signed the long red ribbon as
a souvenir of the occasion.
